  • A comparison study of the antioxidant activity of tea and other beverages, published recently in Free Radical Research, showed that tea was second only to red wine in antioxidant activity:
  • It has been reported that tea may increase blood homocysteine levels, a risk factor for heart disease. A study just published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reports that black tea does not appear to increase homocysteine levels, although individual variation may play a role in previous results.
  • Green can help slow the aging process. Researchers recently found an apparent delay of cancer onset and death associated with increased consumption of green tea, specifically in ages before 79, in a long-term study of a Japanese population. Daily consumption of green tea in sufficient amounts will help to prolong life by avoiding pre-mature death, particularly death caused by cancer.
